Our 3rd annual art show and sale, For the Love of Art, took place Saturday February 3 at the Saint John Arts Centre. Thank you to all of our friends and supporters who showed up to see our latest creations. We were especially grateful for the presence once again of the Honorable Jocelyne Roy Vienneau, Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick, and His Worship, Mayor Don Darling. Thank you, too, to Patrick for the lively piano music!
We held our first ever art auction in the evening of February 3rd, at the Saint John Arts Centre. "31 Days of Art" was a fun experience, with amazing works of art donated by 23 local artists, as well as collaborative and individual pieces by members of Creative Connections. Thank you to all the volunteers whose hard work allowed the evening to unfold smoothly. Thank you to our event sponsors, Frank and Julie McKenna, and Acadia Broadcasting (Country94 and The Wave). And thank you also to our musicians, Sarah, Miriam, Lucia, and Patrick, whose talents added much to the evening. We look forward to the next one!
Our Christmas Carol Sing evening took place December 8th at Creative Connections, and sing we did! With guitar, bells (thank you Sister Roma!), and joyful voices we had a great time filling the air with the sounds of our favourite carols. Thank you, Creative Connections, for hosting us with an abundance of hot apple cider and treats.
Our annual Community Retreat Day, Saturday October 21, took place at and around the Kingston Parish Hall. We were grateful for Ed and Ruth Coleman's preparation of the retreat -- and for the challenge of Ed's leading us in reflection through painting. We enjoyed wonderful food again thanks to Greer's hard work. And we were glad to get out amidst the fall colours and SUN -- some of us going for an after-lunch walk and others trying our skills with a soccer ball!
The 9th annual John Pike Memorial Bowling Extravaganza fundraiser happened Saturday September 16th at Bowlarama West. Once again, a spirited event that reminded us of our founding core member. Thank you to all who came out, and all who volunteered in this event. We were grateful once again for sponsorships by Tim Hortons and Lawtons.
The Annual General Meeting for L’Arche Saint John took place Saturday May 14 by tradition at Our Lady of the Woods Chapel, in Black River. The business portion of the meeting concluded with a prayer of thanksgiving, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments.
This year's Irish Breakfast fundraiser at O'Leary's Pub was the liveliest one yet! Thank you to EVERYONE who came out to volunteer and to enjoy a great breakfast and fabulous music in support of L'Arche Saint John!
Saturday February 11th, our second annual "For the Love of Art" show and sale, was a vibrant afternoon and wonderful success! Thank you to the many friends and supporters who came out to enjoy the works of our Creative Connections artists. Thank you to the members of L'Arche Antigonish who travelled to be with us. Thank you to our Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Jocelyne Roy Vienneau and to artist Ed Coleman for their thoughtful and compelling remarks. The show was a lively celebration of creativity, collaboration, friendship and growth -- and the community that is fostered as we live out our mission in a new way.
On Dec. 3rd, we gathered at Fairville Starbucks to host our annual Coffee House! Special thank you extends to our talented performers Karen Palmer (Casey), Terence Chandra, Hilary Ladd, Mary Beth Marks, and McKim House! The afternoon was a beautiful time of song, conversation and delicious coffee. Thank you to everyone who joined us in friendship and to those who made a free will donation in support of our community!
On Oct. 27th, 2016, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rothesay, dozens of card players and volunteers gathered for the annual Halloween Bridge fundraiser organized by faithful friends Donna Schroeter and Janet Corbett. Congratulations to the door prize and raffle winners!
On Oct. 5 & 6th, 2016, we gathered to officially launch our new location, Creative Connections! Thank you to everyone who showed up to support us as we celebrated this tremendous milestone for our community! A special thank you extends to Her Honour Jocelyne Roy-Vienneau, Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick, Shirley McAlary (Deputy Mayor of Saint John), and Dorothy Shephard (MLA) for joining us!
